Twelve looks, endlessly remixable.
A starting point, not a ceiling. Bring one of these in and we’ll interpret it for your hand - longer, shorter, warmer, sharper, in a colour pulled from your own closet.

Two rooms. Same standard.
Eight chairs apiece, north-light windows, hospital-grade ventilation, and a single rule: the artist sits down with you for five minutes before they pick up a file.

Fourteen pairs of hands.
Each artist is hired on a portfolio review, not a checklist. They book their own diaries, set their own colour palettes, and keep the rates we publish here. Pick the one whose work speaks to your hand.

Rin Jolicoeur
Chrome, micro-French, anything that looks wet. Booked 9 weeks out.

Sade Oyelaran
Hand-painted florals, lettering, anything calligraphic. NYC resident.

Mei Kobayashi
Marbling, jelly tips, the subtler end of the menu. Splits LA / NYC.

Daniela Vélez
Soft-gel extensions, almond shapes, structural French. Mostly LA.

Asha Bhattacharya
3-D charms, gem placement, anything maximalist. NYC, Thurs–Sun.

June Tran
Editorial work, magazine sets, beige-on-beige minimalism. LA only.

VOGUE · 2025
“The Atelier set is the first $165 manicure I’ve ever felt was, somehow, underpriced.”
THE CUT · 2024

Short answers, honestly.
How long does a set really last?
Four weeks for 9 of 10 clients. If a single nail lifts inside 28 days, we sit you down at the studio of your choosing and fix it free. We’ve honoured this guarantee since opening day; ask any artist.
Is your gel safe for natural nails?
We use 9-free, HEMA-free gel exclusively. Removal is acetone-soak, not e-file scraping. We turn down clients whose nails would be better off with a two-week break - the receipt isn’t worth the damage.
Can I bring my own reference?
Yes - please. Screenshots, Pinterest boards, the photo of your grandmother’s wedding ring you took last Sunday. Send anything to studio@lacquer.co at least 24 h before; the artist will write back.
Walk-ins?
Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, usually. We keep two chairs open for walk-ins; a paper list goes out at 11:00 sharp. The list is the list.
Do you do weddings & parties?
Up to twelve hands at the studio after-hours, or we’ll come to you within 20 miles of either studio. Minimum spend $1,200; email events@lacquer.co.
